Dodgers News: Dustin May Will Start This Weekend in Los Angeles

The Dodgers are getting some help back into their starting rotation this weekend. After what seems like an entire year of the team lacking health among their starters, they get a really big arm back. Dustin May has been out since the beginning portion of last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

May has been working his way back to action though, appearing in 6 games for the OKC Dodgers over the last couple of weeks. After punching out 10 batters in 5 innings of work over the weekend, they deemed him ready to make his return to the big league squad.

Dave Roberts said this week that May would be starting for the Dodgers this weekend against the Marlins. It will be the first time since May 1st of last year that he takes the mound for the big league team. No word yet on how many pitches he is going to be limited to, but he threw 70 pitches in 5 innings during his latest minor league start.

The addition of May is huge for the Dodgers, especially after the loss of Walker Buehler for the season. Slotting him in at this point allows them enough time to build him up for postseason starts, which they will almost certainly need from him.

Before going down with the injury, May was dealing for the Dodgers. He struck out 35 batters in 23 innings of work, walking just 6 batters and posting a 2.74 ERA.
