Dodgers News: Dylan Floro Activated from IL, Tony Gonsolin Demoted

The Dodgers have activated right-handed reliever Dylan Floro and have sent right-handed rookie Tony Gonsolin down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Floro started the year off strong but struggled mightily prior to his placement on the Injured List. On the season, Dylan Floro has a 4.11 ERA and 3.66 FIP over 35 innings. However, since May 11, Floro holds an 8.15 ERA across 17 2/3 innings.

He made one rehab outing with Rancho Cucamonga, pitching 1 inning and allowing 2 hits, a hit batter, and no runs. The hope is that he can get it going and return to the pitcher he was in 2018, when he posted a sparkling 2.25 ERA.

Gonsolin, 25, remains one of the Dodgers’ top prospects and recorded his first career save with a one-run four-inning performance last night. With his display at Coors Field, he quite possibly could have seen his trade value rise, but has also worked his way into the forefront of the front office’s collective mind when it comes to the bullpen. He looked good and he will be back in short order should he remain in the Dodgers organization past Wednesday.

My name is Daniel Preciado and I am 19 years old. I am a sophomore Sport Analytics major and Cognitive Science and Economics dual minor at Syracuse University. When I am not in New York, I live in Whittier, California --- not too far from Chavez Ravine. I am pretty old-school for being an analytics guy and I will always embrace debate. Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. That’s just perfect, FO! Bring back Mr. 8+ ERA Floro and send down the kid who almost pitched 4 shutout innings, in Denver no less! And while you’re at it, let’s keep Pederson at 1B. I’m totally mystified about why you’d EVER bring up Smith and send Austin down (with his glorious offensive stats); on second thought…….
