Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Named Player of the Week

What a wild week of emotions for Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers first baseman had to play at the beginning of the week knowing what was waiting for him on the weekend. And when the weekend hit, Freddie had to deal with the emotions of being back in Atlanta for the first time.

Naturally, Freeman was going through it both on camera and in the clubhouse with emotions running high. But that didn’t stop him from doing everything he could to help the Dodgers win ballgames. That included 4 hits against the Braves, one of which was huge in extra innings.

But his overall week was phenomenal. That earned the Dodgers slugger a Player of the Week nod for the National League. That is the first time he has been awarded that honor since signing his deal with Los Angeles.

Freddie collected 11 RBIs on the week and slugged .840 with a pair of homeruns. Dodgers fans have been waiting for that power surge with such a shortage on them at the beginning of the year. But he really came through for them over the last week, and they got 5 wins out of it.

Again, a very emotional week for Freeman. So it’s even more impressive that he was able to put out those kinds of numbers with so much attention on him and his thoughts probably running wild. Congrats Freddie, here’s to many more the rest of the year!
