Dodgers News: Jake Lamb Traded to the Seattle Mariners

The Dodgers are relatively active at the trade deadline today. But it has yet to be in a way that fans were hoping for. So far, their biggest move was trading for slugger Joey Gallo. They landed him in a deal with the Yankees earlier today.

But they just traded Jake Lamb too. The Dodgers brought him into LA on a minor league contract this year and he cracked the big league squad. Since then, he has posted a very respectable.770 OPS across 25 games.

He is headed to the Seattle Mariners in a deal that clears a roster spot for Gallo. The Dodgers are getting money back in the deal, and that appears to be it.

Tough trade for the Dodgers, but they do need the roster spots opened up. Getting Gallo meant that they had to make a decision on a roster player. With Lamb being a left-handed hitter, it was only natural that it would be him.

    1. Agreed. Friedman is great, but he really screwed this trade deadline imho. I mean, how could the Dodgers not come back w/ a better package then what the Pads sent the Nats… AND still have plenty of solid prospects. Maybe the Nats are just stupid.. I don’t know. None of this makes sense.

I was a big Lamb supporter, advocating for him to be called up. I don’t even think he hit his stride yet this year, and he was still a solid bat. Swapping Gallo for Lamb just seems dumb considering you have Trayce, Lamb, maybe Outman now, Rios coming back, and even Martin raking in AAA.

Gave away White because I guess we expect everyone to come back healthy, and also Heaney and Kershaw to not go down again.

Ugh… this might be the worst deadline since Granderson.

  1. Are you kidding me? Making a spot for Gallo? Our lineup to now include Gallo, Muncy, and Bellinger vs the Padres lineup? That 12 game lead will evaporate quickly if clown Dave places all 3 of these guys in. Oh right, clown Dave has faith that Muncy will right himself this season. Guess they’re hoping Gallo will do the same. And now just heard that itch White was traded. Although not an elite pitcher ( he just needs to devote one knockout pitch) he did start for us and managed to chew up some innings. Padres lineup is deep plus they have the arms.
