Dodgers News: Justin Turner Exits the Game With Apparent Injury

Health is always a concern for the Dodgers in 2021. With so many injuries popping up throughout the year, they’ve chosen to play it safe with a lot of their guys. One guy they did that with again n Sunday was Justin Turner.

JT came off of the field with a  little bit of a limp after the 2nd inning. The Dodgers’ third baseman made an incredible play ranging to his left that may have led to him tweaking something in his lower body. He was seen in the dugout with LA batting and appeared to be lobbying to stay in the game with Dave Roberts.

Turner was replaced on defense in the following inning. The Dodgers shifted Max Muncy over to third base and Albert Pujols came in to play first base. With a day off on Monday, Roberts likely just wanted to play it safe with his veteran corner infielder.

Turner left the game with the Dodgers up 3 runs against the Angels. They jumped onto rookie pitcher Reid Detmers early and did not let up. As more details on Turner come out, we will pass them along.

I guess it was asking too much to expect this club to get through a weekend without at least one starter getting injured. Let’s hope it isn’t anything serious.

  1. As excited as we all were that the Dodgers’ lineup was finally going to be whole, you knew the way this season has been going that meant someone else was immediately going to go out with injury.
So Roberts just said that JT will be out for several days with the groin injury. Certainly, it could be longer than that.
On a positive note: this makes the acquisition of T. Turner even more important, now.
He has definitely jump started the team, so far.
The concern is that the Dodgers’ next 6 games are road games against the red hot Phillies and a tough Mets team while the Giants play 5 games against the D’backs and Rockies.
It’s a little too early to be talking about make or break road trips, but the Dodgers easily could lose 1 or 2 games in the standings and find themselves 5 or 6 back of S.F. Under normal circumstances, a split of the 6 games would be ok, but if the Dodgers don’t win at least 4 of the 6 they are probably going to lose ground. This next week is huge for the ballclub.

    1. Well if it’s going to perhaps be longer than a few games, a decision for an IL stint should be done and soon. I think they can back date the IL time if possible.

  2. Meant to say that the Giants will play 6 games: 2 against Az and 4 against the Rockies, while the Dodgers are on their 6 game road trip. It’s going to be tough to stay 4 back of the Giants or cut into their lead.

  3. This has been a weird season with lots of injuries. Pollack, who has an injury history, seems to be one of the few that has stayed healthy all year, and is now batting over 300. Yep weird year. Weird enough to win it all back to back. And that’s exactly what I think the Dodgers are going to do. Go Dodgers.
