Dodgers News: Justin Turner Will Be Available Off of the Bench Tonight

The Dodgers have been riding with a short bench for the better part of a week now. Between Justin Turner and Mookie Betts, they were a little slow in placing guys on the injured list. That led to them being down 2 guys for few days.

They would eventually place Mookie on the IL with his hip issue, but they called up an arm instead of a bat. The Dodgers went with a bullpen game on Thursday in Philadelphia, so it made sense at the time that they would add an arm.

But the Dodgers did not place Justin Turner on the injured list. Instead, they held out hope that he would be ready to go over the weekend in New York. That has not turned out to be the case though. Turner was not in the starting lineup on Friday night, and he is once again not expected to be in there on Saturday.

However, he is expected to be available off of the bench. Dave Roberts noted after the win on Friday that the Dodgers would have Turner available to hit should the need arise. That’s good news for the veteran infielder looking to get over a groin strain.

In fact, Roberts confirmed Justin’s availability ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game, adding that he hopes to see JT in the lineup on Sunday.

JT sustained the injury on Sunday in Los Angeles and had to come out of the game in the 2nd inning. He has yet to play in a game since then.

  1. NEWSFLASH!!! If one looks at tonight’s lineup put out by the ‘infamous’ Roberts, it’s THE SAME as last night’s lineup with the exception of the pitcher of course. HOPE UPON HOPE that in 2022, we aren’t seeing the pitchers name in the batting order in the NL anymore.

  2. It almost seem like Roberts doesn’t want to win. He make questionable decision on the game that could effect the outcome. I am not the only one. Especially using relief pitchers. I don’t know
