Dodgers News: Latest Update on Turner’s Recovery

The Dodgers have gone their full spring thus far without their everyday third baseman. That’s obviously Justin Turner, who is still on his way back from surgery this offseason.

As with any injury so early, no good comes from rushing a player back. The Dodgers seem to agree, as they continue to work guys back at their respective speeds.

ICYMI: Dodgers’ Top Prospects May Get Early Call Due to Rotation Injuries

Bill Plunkett from the Orange County Register offers this update on Turner’s situation.

Justin Turner (microfracture surgery) will continue to get at-bats on the minor league side of camp and will play in a minor league camp game before he appears in a Cactus League game.

Turner is still reportedly on schedule to be back and ready for Opening Day or somewhere close to that, which is all that really matters. Turner might arguably go down as one of the best free agent signings in the franchise’s history, when the amount he signed for is taken into account.

As great as it would be to see him build on that success as quickly as possible, his health for the duration of this season is exponentially more important.
