Dodgers News: Matt Beaty Recalled With Billy McKinney Heading to the Injured List
The Dodgers are making one last move before their series against the Padres starting tonight. They already added Gavin Lux into the mix and the shortstop/second baseman is starting out in left field with Cody Bellinger struggling.
But the Dodgers are also calling up one of their better bench bats. They added Matt Beaty to the active roster ahead of the series just over an hour before game time. Beaty has been down at Triple-A OKC for reasons that remain a mystery to many.
Dodgers fans have also been clamoring for his recall the past week. With the offense and Cody Bellinger struggling to produce, adding in a bat as consistent as his only made sense. The team was slow to get to the move.

Beaty comes back for his third stint with the Dodgers after playing 105 games for them so far in 2021. He is batting .262 (49-for-187) with 5 homeruns and 34 runs driven in over that span. Beaty was hitting .357 with 3 extra-base hits in 9 games for OKC.
In order to make room on the active roster for Beaty, the Dodgers placed Billy McKinney on the injured list with a hip injury. McKinney played in the game on Thursday afternoon in St Louis and went hitless.

Apart from Belli’s blues, what’s with Taylor. He’s in a prolonged slump, and his strikeout ratio, 33%, is even worse than Bellinger’s. Is the hitting coach doing his job? Maybe some new blood there is needed in the coachng department.

It was great that the Dodgers finally recalled Matt Beaty even though it may be a day late and a dollar short. But, someone forgot to tell Dave Roberts, because he started Gavin Lux in left field last night who has only played the position once . . . at OKC. Beatty should now get the majority of starts in left field next to Taylor and Betts. Bellinger? A defensive replacement at best.
To say that McKinney played in a game and went hitless is redundant.

Yep…Doc throws Beaty in w/ bases loaded… he fans on 3 pitches. Doc wants to send him back to OKC tomorrow. Doc said that ‘he had his chance and blew it.’ And McWhatshisname…injured? really?
