Dodgers News: Mitch White Recalled Ahead of the Bullpen Game Thursday

The Dodgers are set to throw a bullpen game this morning against the Phillies. Looking to take the series sweep, Dave Roberts will have to turn to a number of arms out of relief to shut down a high-powered offense. 

Doc already noted earlier this week that he expected Mitch White to take down a bulk of the innings in today’s game. Up until now, he wasn’t sure if he would be starting or coming in relief. But in order to make it possible for White to appear, the Dodgers had to recall him from the taxi squad today. 



White last pitched with the Dodgers big league squad on July 31st against Arizona. He threw 58 pitches in that game and put in 3.2 innings of work. Doc had said this week that he expects White to get up there in his pitch count, though his season-high is only 65.

The Dodgers also had to throw mini bullpen games over the last 2 in Philly with the weather issues. David Price was able to go 4 innings on Wednesday, but Max Scherzer only got through 3.1 innings before the heavens opened up. 

In order to make room for White on the active roster, the Dodgers designated Kevin Quackenbush for assignment. He appeared in 1 game for LA and was charged with a run over 0.1 innings of work,

  1. Good. Mitch needs a consistent environment. Hopefully, they let him pitch 4 innings without a pitch count. He’d be the next Gonsolin if Roberts would just let him pitch…
