Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Back in the Lineup on Saturday Following Injury Scare

The Dodgers have not had much luck staying healthy in 2021. All across the roster, it seems like they’ve had to deal with a rash of injuries essentially at every position on the field. Mookie Betts has been one of the guys that they’ve had to manage all year long.

Betts dealt with a number of things early on in the season, including a back injury. But his hip injury that flared up over the last month has been a real issue. It landed him on the injured list and took him out of the game on Friday night in Los Angeles.

Dave Roberts had said that he was still hopeful Betts would be in the Dodgers lineup on Saturday. He had also noted that the team was moving forward with the belief that the issue was not going away. That means they will have to manage it all year long to keep him healthy enough to play.

Betts is officially in the Dodgers lineup on Saturday. He will be batting third and playing out in right field. That’s worth noting since Doc had previously said that playing the outfield can aggravate the hip issue.

The Dodgers and Angels are set to play game 2 of their series tonight in Los Angeles. Trea Turner will be in the lineup playing second base for them today, making his first start with his new team. Turner got into the game on Friday night as a pinch-hitter and popped out late in the game.

  1. Mookie is a competitor but sometimes these guys have to be protected from themselves. Davey Dingbat is too stupid to confront him and tell him he’s sitting. We have so much talent that, even 4 back, we can afford to sit Mookie til he’s completely healthy. Last time Mookie was hurt, The Dingbat sent him up to hit in the 9th behind 7-2. I’m so tired of watching this idiot being outmatched by the other dugout. We’re turning into the Atlanta Braves with a ton of division titles and one Championship. Roberts is no Bobby Cox. I can’t wait for Dopey Davey Dingbat Robots gets his walking papers.
