Dodgers News: OF Prospect James Outman Promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers have already promoted a few guys in their system to the next level this season. That includes guys like Jacob Amaya and Michaell Busch, two infielder prospects that have plenty of potential to crack the big league squad in the coming years.

But they also just bumped up one more intriguing name to Oklahoma City. The Dodgers promoted outfielder James Outman to Triple-A this week, and he should be playing his first game soon. Outman spent 68 games with the Tulsa Drillers this year before getting the bump up.

Outman was posting a .946 OPS with 16 homeruns at Double-A when he got the promotion. The Dodgers’ number 17 prospect impressed at Spring Training this year as well, leading fans to wonder if he had an outside shot of cracking the Opening Day roster.

A speedy guy in the outfield with a very good glove, Outman has steadily built up his power since being drafted in the 7th round of the 2018 draft. He’s also playing in just his 4th minor league season after the 2020 season was called off due to the pandemic. But at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, he might be one of the best athletes in the Dodgers system.

He slashed .295/.394/.552 for Tulsa before getting the call, and the Dodgers could be seeing him out in Los Angeles very soon.
