Dodgers News: Padres Pass LA in Latest MLB Power Rankings

The Dodgers enter Tuesday tied with the Padres for first in the NL West. San Diego has won 2 more games, but Los Angeles has also played 4 games less than their counterparts. As expected. it’s shaping up to be a race to the finish in the west. That includes the Giants too, who are just 3.5 games out of first.

But the Dodgers have been going through a bit of a rough stretch. That includes this past week when they went a combined 3-2 against the Angels and Guardians. Sure, they ran through Anaheim with relative ease in the 2-game series. But Cleveland gave them fits and exposed the bullpen.

Because of that, the Dodgers were passed by the Padres in the power rankings this week. The latest update from MLB has Los Angeles coming in at number 4. San Diego comes in at number 3 on the list after going 4-3 during the week. They swept the Cubs in a 4-game series only to be swept by the Rockies over the weekend.

It just goes to show how good the NL West can be in 2022. Dave Roberts said last week that he thinks it is the best division in baseball, and he might be onto something. But the Dodgers are struggling right now. The offense can’t seem to get going and the bullpen has struggled with their workload.

The loss of Mookie Betts and Walker Buehler over the last 2 weeks only worsens things. And while Trayce Thompson might not be the savior we need, sometimes it just takes one game to get back into a groove. Let’s hope that’s tonight in Cincinatti for the Dodgers.
