Dodgers News: Padres Reportedly the Frontrunner For Juan Soto

The trade market is quickly developing as the deadline draws nearer. With just a few days left for teams to make a decision on adding talent, the pressure is on. And the Dodgers are one of the few teams that probably don’t feel like they really NEED to make a deal.

But how the Dodgers approach the deadline could be influenced by the decisions of other teams in the NL West. The Padres are likely going to be in the market for a bat this week, looking to make up some space in the National League West.

As of Thursday morning, the Padres are thought of as the favorites to land Juan Soto in a deal. That comes from rival executives, per ESPN’s Buster Olney. If San Diego is able to make a trade for him, that would be an incredible addition to their already packed lineup.

But will that be enough to catch up to the Dodgers? We’ll see.

Other Dodgers News

The Dodgers are apparently checking in on a bunch of guys around the league. They were one of the teams looking into Andrew Benintendi before he was dealt to the New York Yankees this week. Adding him into the mix would have been very interesting, given his ability to hit for contact at a ridiculous rate.

That’s not the only bat they were looking into. The Dodgers are looking into guys like J.D Martinez to see if there is a potential match with the Red Sox. Getting someone with his power into this lineup would be ridiculous, even if he doesn’t really play the outfield much anymore.

  1. We need bullpen/starter help. Please don’t promote Baez. Sheesh, he’s like a bad penny that keeps turning up!

  2. Soto and contract is a franchise killer. Save the dollars and Sisn TTurn long term and make a deal for Bieber in Cleveland using either Miller or Pepiot and pieces. Bring the young man home. Meanwhile, between Tatis, Machado And Soto, the SD Padres franchise is handcuffed for the foreseeable future. Even with all of those chaps, that won’t beat us.
