Dodgers News: Dodgers Fall in Power Rankings, Joc Pederson Takes Monthly Honors

The Los Angeles Dodgers split the series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Unfortunately, their latest loss dropped them to the No. 2 spot in the NL West behind the rival San Francisco Giants.

After struggling in the month of April the Dodgers fell in Bleacher Reports power rankings to the No. 12 spot, previously standing at No. 4. They probably would have fallen farther had it not been for the dominance of Clayton Kershaw.

Dodgers News: Kenta Maeda Takes Monthly Honors

From Joel Reuter, feature columnist at Bleacher Report:

Kershaw was brilliant against the Padres on Sunday, though, striking out 14 in a three-hit shutout and driving in the only run of the game with an RBI single.

It’s probably for the best that Kershaw didn’t need to turn things over to the bullpen, as the relief corps has been far from reliable so far this year.

They currently rank 16th in the majors with a 3.84 ERA, and they’ve picked up five losses and five blown saves along the way.

Ironically, although they lead in the NL West the Giants rank No. 14 on the power rankings list. So who does the No. 1 spot go to? The Chicago Cubs.

The Dodgers offense has struggled, but when analyzing the team Bleacher Report named Joc Pederson hitter of the month.

From Joel Reuter, feature columnist at Bleacher Report:

Hitter of the Month

Joc Pederson (.266/.390/.469, 17 H, 4 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 12 R)

The Dodgers are currently on the road to face the Toronto Blue Jays for a 3-game series.
