Dodgers News: Puig Accepts Invitation To Participate In Home Run Derby

[new_royalslider id=”175″] On Sunday, Yasiel Puig was named to his first All-Star Game and he’ll be joined by Dee Gordon, Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw.

While being voted an All-Star is a nice accomplishment for Puig in just his second season, he was also hopeful to receive an invitation to participate in the Home Run Derby.

Puig was awaiting word from National League caption Troy Tulowitzki, whose first invite went to Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton.

On Tuesday, Puig revealed he’s accepted an invitation to join Tulowitzki’s team, according to Bill Plunkett of the OC Register:

As for the stigma that the Home Run Derby can negatively affect a player’s swing, Puig said he isn’t concerned:

Puig has 12 home runs on the season and ended a six-week drought July 4 with a home run to straight away center. Puig hit eight home runs in May, which coincided with him also tying a franchise record for most hits in a month.
