Dodgers News: Team Flies In Minor League Pitcher To Face Joc Pederson

The Dodgers have flown AZL pitcher Markus Solbach into Boston to throw live BP against Joc Pederson. The 27-year old German-born Solbach threw earlier this afternoon.

This news is a bit off the wall and I’m not entirely sure why Solbach is the guy the Dodgers chose to fly out to Boston for a day. Solbach was signed by the Dodgers earlier this year back in January. Prior to signing with LA, “The Big Germ” was playing down under for the Adelaide Bite in Australia.

Looks like the organization wants Joc to get in some extra cuts before the team heads to Philadelphia. Joc has not started a game in 9 nine days. Markus Solbach has 5 appearances down in Arizona, holding a 5.94 ERA in 16.2 innings of play.

The Dodgers open up a four-game series in Philly tomorrow night. They are expected to face all right-handed starting pitching, so Joc will assuredly see plenty of action.
