Dodgers News: Trea Turner Convinced LA Would Trade For Juan Soto at the Right Price

Get ready Dodgers fans, the trade deadline is just a week away. And with a massive lead in the National League West, there’s no telling what sort of tricks Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes will pull out.

As we’ve seen in years past, it doesn’t really matter how good this team is. If there is a deal to be made at the right price, the Dodgers will go out and improve their roster. And they have the chance to do just that this year with a blockbuster move.

Juan Soto is very much rumored to be available, and the Nationals could deal him before next week. The Dodgers, being the team that they are, have been connected to him multiple times. And when asked about his former teammate, Trea Turner seemed to think it would be a real possibility, at the right price. (quote via Jack Harris)

“I’m pretty sure if that man right there [Andrew Friedman] can acquire him for the right price, he will do it in a heartbeat. Which is a cool part about playing here. If those people are available, they’ll be here.”

Obviously, if the Dodgers see a match on paper, there is no reason to think they won’t go out and land Soto. But Friedman is in a unique position this year. He doesn’t NEED anyone on this roster, and adding in Soto would be a luxury rather than an absolute need.

But he is a generational talent, and he could really shake up this lineup. Adding Soto into right would presumably mean that Mookie Betts shifts over to center. That leaves Cody Bellinger as the odd man out if they don’t want to try his hand in left. But Soto has technically spent the majority of his career in left, meaning they wouldn’t have to change up much.

Dodgers News: MLB Executives List LA and Padres as Favorites for Juan Soto

  1. The Dodgers are not trading for him but, if they did, Soto being the below average fielder that he is would play LF.

  2. The Dodgers do not really need him but I do think we need to keep Trea as he is great in all areas. I think, being a Dodgers fan, that Trea would be more valuable to us than Soto.

    1. No doubt about it, TT is the man to give the big deal to and retain. Means much more than overspending for Soto at this time. Some relievers should not step on the mound right now. If we’re looking to trade this is the area to pursue.

  3. I still think that we should wait until Soto becomes a free agent. But if he does get traded to us, I’m all for it.

  4. Dodgers may not need to trade for Soto, but we need to trade a bunch of guys off our 40-man roster. It is currently full, and we have 10 guys on the 60 day DL, includinge Buehler, Treinen and May. As each of these guys becomes ready to pitch again, we will have to have either freed up a spot via trade, or DFA somebody. I don’t know that there are 6-7 people I’m ready to DFA.
