Dodgers News: Tyler White Acquired via Trade from the Houston Astros

According to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic, corner infielder Tyler White is on his way to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

MLB Network insider Mark Feinsand added that the Dodgers sent pitching prospect Andre Scrubb in exchange. Scrubb is a 24-year-old reliever at Double-A Tulsa and holds a 2.45 ERA across 47 2/3 innings of work in 2019.

Coming into the year, White was expected to show out after posting a 144 wRC+ in 2018. This move is very interesting and the Dodgers believe they have something here. White has not been the same hitter this year, posting just an 81 wRC+ in 71 games.

Last season, White held a 176 wRC+ against southpaws and should he be able to get back to that, this could be a huge boon for the Dodgers against left-handed pitching.

    1. Hate this move too…….Maybe this means Freese is hurt more than they are letting on……….I would rather see Joc and Muncy split any time there that Freese can’t go out there. Tyler White does not hit…….he is another Barnes waiting to happen. That’s why he lost his spot with the Astros, he was not hitting enough for them. I am sure the Astros like trading with the Dodgers right now, since they got Yordan Alvarez from us for Josh Fields…….Alvarez has quickly become one of their BEST bats in an already potent lineup. They won out on that trade, why not try another, they were done with White.
