Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Named National League Pitcher of the Month

The Dodgers have been blessed by a few consistent arms in the rotation in 2021. Between Walker Buehler and Julio Urias, they’ve had 2 guys that make their starts and pitch very with decent consistency. But Buehler certainly stands out in 2021.

Buehler just came off of a game against the Giants on Wednesday in which he threw 7 scoreless innings. It was the 7th time in 2021 that Buehler was not charged with a run in one of his starts for the Dodgers. It was also the 9th time that he made it through at least 7 innings of work.

In the month of July, Buehler was absolutely lights out. He made 5 starts and earned the win in 3 of those, going 3-0 on the month for the Dodgers. He pitched to a 1.67 ERA after allowing just 6 earned runs across 32.1 innings of work.

That led to Buehler being named the National League Pitcher of the Month in July. He struck out 38 batters and walked 9 and dominated for the entire month. He was a big reason the Dodgers were able to have so much success despite not having the starting pitchers to make it through at times.

When the Dodgers have really needed Buehler to be his best, he’s come through time and time again. Well deserved for a guy that should be the face of the rotation for years to come in Los Angeles.
