Dodgers News: X-Rays Negative on Chris Taylor’s Left Wrist; May Be Heading to IL

Dodgers shortstop Chris Taylor exited the game on Sunday after being hit on the left wrist by a 92.4 mph fastball in the 11th inning of a 12 inning 7-4 Los Angeles win.

He stayed in the game through the bottom of the 11th inning and made a game saving diving catch up the middle. However, he was replaced by pinch hitter Austin Barnes in the 12th inning as he went for x-rays.

Thankfully Bill Plunkett hit us with the update (apologies for the bad play on words).

Ken Gurnick offered this from Dodgers manager Dave Roberts,

For Chris to come out of a game, you know it had to be hurting him,” said Roberts, who was forced to lose the designated hitter to cover for Taylor’s removal. “He’s still in a lot of pain.

X-rays on Taylor’s wrist came back negative, but he remained in a “lot of pain”. So much so, he struggled putting on his shoes after the game. “I’m hoping it’s just a bad bone bruise,” Taylor said. “It’s just stiff.”

Roberts said the team will continue to monitor Taylor’s wrist and didn’t rule out a roster move happening during or before the series in Philadelphia.

Further tests are expected to be taken on Monday in Philly.

As noted by our Daniel Preciado, CT3 had been hot, having went in to Sunday’s matchup batting .391 over his previous 25 games.

If he does hit the Injured List, Matt Beaty may return to the active roster, or the organization can recall catcher Will Smith and have Austin Barnes backup at second base.

  1. This would be a blow to us since Chris has been raking the last month. Hopefully a couple days will take care of it.

  2. Hopefully it’s only a bruise. Call up Beaty if necessary. Muncy at second Beaty at 1st or Pederson. Both can play outfield also. Barnes looks confused when at bat.
