Dodgers News: Yasiel Puig Sparks Brawl, Fans Boo Kenley Jansen, LA Connected to Everyone, and More!

What a wild week of news for the Dodgers this week.

The rumor mill is absolutely out of control this week as MLB heads toward the July 30th trade deadline. As expected, the Dodgers are involved in just about every name available on the market right now. Given their need for arms, every rumor should at least be considered.

With that, let’s dive into some of the news!

Dodgers fans got to see Yasiel Puig’s name pop up in the news this week despite him not being in the big leagues. Puig sparked off a brawl in the Mexican Leagues over the weekend when a pitcher plunked him, and it was wild.

The latest update on the Trevor Bauer case is that there really is no update. The pitcher was scheduled to appear in court this week so a judge could make a decision on his restraining order. That decision was pushed back to another week.

Dodgers’ first baseman Max Muncy was away from the team this week as his wife gave birth to their first child. Muncy will once again join up with the team in San Francisco as they take on the Giants.

Gavin Lux might be out of the lineup for much longer than anticipated. The injury to his hamstring may have turned out to have been more severe than anticipated and the club appears to be slow-playing his progress.

Dave Roberts was not happy with Dodgers fans this week when Kenley Jansen blew 2 save opportunities. Doc did not like how fans out in Los Angeles booed him as he left the field and as he was introduced the following night.

The injuries for Los Angeles are mounting, but the hope is that a few of them are closing in on a return. Corey Seager, Mookie Betts, and Justin Turner all went through their own pains this week and Mookie landed on the IL.

  1. Uuuhhh, DR, they weren’t booing KJ. They were booing you for putting him in the game. BTW- just because KJ got the save in a one run game Sunday doesn’t mean he’s got things figured out and won’t continue blowing saves over the next two months. Just remember, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. So, KJ will get a save once in a while. It doesn’t mean he’s back to his old dominating self. I guess time will tell if he just hit a rough patch and has it figured out, or, if he really has just lost a step or two in his skills and mechanics and needs to be assigned a new role on the team. Hopefully a role that won’t have the fate of the team determined by his performance.

  2. I understand Dave Robert’s is sticking up for his pitcher. But the fans are paying a lot of money to see their team win. I have been to a Yankees game in the Bronx and Yankees fans will not put up with something like that and they don’t care who you are or if you are a future hall of famer, ask Derek Jeter. But it’s nice to see fans taking an interest and showing their frustrations for the players that they better perform or else expect to hear it from the them. Dave Roberts needs to let the fans be and focus on how to get his team on a winning streak or else he might be the next victim of boos.
