Dodgers News: Yu Darvish to Start on Friday Against Mets

Questions have been answered in regards to the Dodgers newest addition to the starting rotation, Yu Darvish.

David Vassegh of AM570 LA Sports has announced that Yu Darvish will be throwing a bullpen session in Atlanta on Thursday and will be making his first career start as a Los Angeles Dodger on Friday against the New York Mets.

Alex Wood was originally slated to pitch Friday so the first assumption was that he would be moved up to Thursday. With Rich Hill still listed as Saturday’s starter, it would be hard to see Wood get moved back further than that.

There still has been no confirmation of who gets bumped from the rotation but one would assume that it would be Brock Stewart moving back to the bullpen. Until McCarthy and Kershaw come back the Dodgers will have a set five that includes both Maeda and Ryu.

Another question was answered on the AM570 radio show. Yu Darvish, who wore number 11 as a member of the Texas Rangers will now be number 21 as  a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Logan Forsythe currently wears number 11 and with Darvish being a rental it makes sense as to why Darvish would not make too much of an effort to get his number back. He will however be taking number 21 from Trayce Thompson who is not with the big league club right now.

Another trade deadline acquisition has made his way to the team. Tony Watson was added to the Dodgers roster prior to Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Left-handed reliever, Edward Paredes was optioned back to Triple-A Oklahoma City after he logged in 2.1 scoreless innings in his first two Major League appearances.

The Dodgers take their eight-game win streak into Atlanta this week as they face off against the Braves to start their road trip.
