The 2020 Dodgers fought for a title under very difficult circumstances, and I don’t think many could argue against that. But the way they went about their business and got things done on a daily basis impressed more than just their own fanbase.
Even Rockies manager Bud Black had to respect the tenacity of the Dodgers to go out every day and compete in a 60-game season. Black spoke with MLB Network recently about one of his NL West rivals, and he talked about how impressed he was with the Los Angeles team.
Agree I think they were by far the best team in baseball this year, they built a powerhouse up there and there’s no doubt about that. They’re deserving. They played well, they won when they needed to. When it came down to making pitches and getting big hits or making plays at the most critical times, they did it. That’s what world champions do and they proved it this year.
The Dodgers made some great moves ahead of the 2020 season, bringing on talent that led them to their first title since 1988. Trading for Mookie Betts is one of the more obvious moves, but it goes even deeper than that. Adding in arms such as Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol proved to be a difference-making decision is the long run.
You might be wondering, why would an NL West rival manager praise the Dodgers?? The short answer is that Bud Black and Dave Roberts have a long-standing friendship, and are even neighbors in San Diego. But regardless of what team you root for, it’s hard to not recognize the talent of this 2020 squad. What a year.
