Dodgers NLCS: Reliever Justin Bruihl Experiencing Pain in His Throwing Arm

Injuries have piled up for the Dodgers during this postseason. It was difficult to keep guys healthy and playing ball all season long, and that continues to be an issue into October. It’s been particularly apparent during the National League Championship Series.

After losing guys like Justin Turner and Joe Kelly over the last couple of days, the Dodgers are dealing with a few more potential injuries. One is still Max Scherzer’s dead arm which is keeping him from starting Game 6.

But another major concern at this point is left-handed reliever Justin Bruihl. The southpaw developed soreness in his arm while warming up in the bullpen for Game 5 of the NLCS. The Dodgers are bringing along an extra arm with them on the trip in case Bruihl is unable to go.

Losing Bruihl would be a big blow for the Dodgers bullpen at this point in the series. He has already made 3 scoreless appearances in the Championship Series and allowed just 1 total hit. Bruihl has also racked up 5 strikeouts in just 2 full innings of work, so he’s missing plenty of bats.

David Price is one fo the left-handed pitchers available for Doc, but they don’t have much beyond him without Bruihl. Alex Vesia remains as the only southpaw bullpen option outside of Price should they opt to remove Bruihl from the roster.

  1. If you ask me, too much is made of the left vs right issue. Either a given pitcher is effective or not! It’s that simple. Yes I know the analytics say this and that, but folks let’s be real, those are things the play out over the course of 162! This the play-offs! Get it done Dodgers! You got this! Add Mitch White please! Guy was nails coming down the stretch!

Let’s go Dodgers! Make the Braves continue to relive the nightmare!
