We know the starting position players are pretty much set with most of the 2020 championship lineup plugging right back in 1-8. But handedness and versatility will be key in Doc and company filling out LA’s 26 man roster. With Chris Taylor and Zach McKinstry, the Dodgers have incredible depth around the infield but neither are perfectly true outfield options. Moreover, with Beaty, he’s played a lot of left and right field this spring, but the outfield grass is far from his best spot on the diamond. This could give a clear shot to a roster spot for the rookie DJ Peters.

Who would you like to see on the Dodger bench?

  1. Each of the candidates for the final bench spots has something to add to the team. There is no great option; only good ones. LA would do well with either of them. I like Rios, because he is an adequate fielder at first or third and is an explosive batter. DJ Peters is the outfield version, although a righty, which is in demand right now. McKinstry is versatile, but they already have Taylor. Pros and cons for each of them. Management has a closer view of their abilities and they also have a better read on what they need. While I like Rios, I am perfectly happy with whomever they chose.

  2. WOW!! So MUCH talent on this Dodger ball club! I like Beatty, for his experience and obviously Chris Taylor can play infield and outfield, with a good bat to go with it. Both of these guys have a lot of mlb experience now, with a championship ring to go with it. As for the rookies and new guys, Neuse, Rios (some good experience here too) and McKinstry and Peters, I don’t envy Robert’s and his coaching staff their decisions to be made. All of these players are very talented and at first blush I have to go with Rios, for his ability to play 3rd & 1st base, both, with a very good bat off the bench as a pinch hitter too. Whatever the Doc and his staff decide, I’m good with and they know these guys better than any of us fans do. But, I’ll make a prediction here. Look for the Dodgers to win the NL West once again and the NL Pennant and return to the World Series, where .. if everyone is healthy at that point, they will be very difficult to beat in the BIG GAME!
