Dodgers Place Blake Treinen on the Injured List

The Dodgers are heading down to San Diego tonight to take on the Padres in a 3-game set. It will be the first of 19 matchups this year between two NL West teams that generally put on quite a show when they go head-to-head.

But there will be a few names the Dodgers will be without during the matchup. They already lost Andrew Heaney to shoulder discomfort after his last start. Heaney was set to get the start on Saturday afternoon, but it will now be Tyler Anderson. But he won’t be the only guy they’re missing.

The Dodgers announced this morning that they needed to place reliever Blake Treinen on the injured list. He has been dealing with a shoulder issue that has held him out of games since last Thursday against the Reds. Roberts had said on Monday that he would not play at all during the Braves series.

Treinen has appeared in just 3 games for the Dodgers so far this year. He has tossed 3 innings and allowed one run to come across on a solo shot he gave up against the Rockies. But he has struck out five batters in that span and has yet to allow a walk.

In place of Treinen, the Dodgers recalled Garrett Cleavinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Cleavinger had just been sent down in the same move that brought up Phil Bickford last week.
