Dodgers Predicted By Baseball America to Win the West and More

The Dodgers have been one of the best teams in the National League for the past couple of seasons. Adding Mookie Betts and David Price certainly didn’t take away from that. In fact, Baseball America predicts the Dodgers to not only have the best record in the NL West but that they will also win the pennant.

The projection shows that the Dodgers will finish above the Diamondbacks, who would finish ins second. The projection also shows several awards projections, which several Los Angeles players were included in.

MVP Award

It is worth noting that new addition Mookie Betts is the standout favorite to take home the National League MVP award. Mookie is followed closely in the projections by the Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr and fellow Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger. Mookie took home the American League MVP in 2018.

Cy Young Award

Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals is projected to take home the Cy Young Award, but they have the Dodgers’ Walker Buehler in second. Buehler finished ninth in Cy Young voting last season. Los Angeles has had four Cy Young winners in the last twenty years, and three of them were all Clayton Kershaw. Eric Gagne took home the award back in 2003 with a dominant relief campaign.

Rookie of the Year

The last Dodgers player to win the Rookie of the Year award was Cody Bellinger in 2017 and Corey Seager in 2016. Gavin Lux has a good shot at taking that award home in 2020, and Baseball America has picked him as the favorite.

All told, the Dodgers look like they are in great shape for the 2020 season. Expect plenty of hardware when the season is over, but there’s only one trophy that matters. Seven out of the eight writers involved in voting projected the Dodgers to win the World Series over the Yankees or Astros. One writer predicted the Yankees would beat Los Angeles in six games.

  1. It’s nice to see the Dodger so heavily predicted I wonder how often these predictions actually come true.
