Downs, just 21 years old, was acquired by the Dodgers this past off-season as part of the blockbuster trade that sent both Yasiel Puig and Alex Wood to the Cincinnati Reds.
He’s currently ranked as the Dodgers no. 7 prospect, just behind RHP Tony Gonsolin who’s contributed at the major league level for the Dodgers over the past few weeks.
The Quakes will certainly miss Downs’ production, especially on the offensive end. He started slow this year but has put up impressive numbers since early May.
SS Jeter Downs has been promoted to Double-A Tulsa. His year at HiA Rancho:
.269/.354/.507, 19 HR, 23 SB, 11.3 BB%, 20.3 K%, 134 wRC+
He started slow, but since May 10th:
.301/.393/.568, 13.0 BB%, 19.0 K%, 160 wRC+
Just turned 21 less than a month ago.

This is only Downs second full professional season, and first within the Dodgers organization.
At such a young age, he has great potential and can become a valuable asset at the major league level if he can continue to improve.
