Dodgers Prospect Jeter Downs Promoted to Double-A Tulsa

Dodgers’ infield prospect Jeter Downs has been officially promoted from the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to the Tulsa Drillers, the Dodgers’ Double-A affiliate.

Downs, just 21 years old, was acquired by the Dodgers this past off-season as part of the blockbuster trade that sent both Yasiel Puig and Alex Wood to the Cincinnati Reds.

He’s currently ranked as the Dodgers no. 7 prospect, just behind RHP Tony Gonsolin who’s contributed at the major league level for the Dodgers over the past few weeks.

The Quakes will certainly miss Downs’ production, especially on the offensive end. He started slow this year but has put up impressive numbers since early May.

This is only Downs second full professional season, and first within the Dodgers organization.

At such a young age, he has great potential and can become a valuable asset at the major league level if he can continue to improve.

I’m currently a junior at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and I have a passion for sports journalism. I grew up in the LA area and am a diehard fan of the Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, UCLA, Kings. My favorite Dodgers memory was watching Kershaw tear up after the team won the 2017 NLCS and advanced to the World Series for the first time in his career. After college, I plan on either pursuing a career as a sports journalist or working in sports law.
