Grandal hit a leadoff double to right-center in the fifth that he may have been able to stretch out to a triple. The cautious approach wound up hurting the Dodgers, despite Grandal taking third with no outs on a passed ball.

Ethier grounded to shortstop with the infield drawn in and Uribe fouled out to Posey. Anderson managed to work a two-out walk, but the Dodgers’ offensive futility continued to be an issue as Pederson weakly grounded out to end the inning. The rookie center fielder’s at-bat dropped the Dodgers to 1-for-24 with runners in scoring position at AT&T Park in five games this season.

Lincecum led off the bottom of the fifth and struck out giving, Anderson seven punch outs. He then retired the next two batters to keep the game scoreless heading into the sixth. It was another easy inning for Lincecum, who capped it off by striking out Gonzalez for the second time in the game.

Posey lined a leadoff double high off the right field wall in the bottom of the sixth. He took third on Pence’s grounder to the right side and remained there when Justin Maxwell grounded to Rollins, who was playing in.

Anderson walked Andrew Susac and it cost him as Crawford promptly broke the scoreless tie with a sinking base hit to left field that scored Posey. Anderson limited the damage by getting Duffy to ground out. Grandal drove a ball to deep center field that Pagan made a leaping catch on in front of the wall for the second out in the seventh.

Ethier worked a full count and drew a walk with two outs. Lincecum’s pitch count went above 100, but he ended the inning by getting Uribe to fly out. While Justin Turner was on-deck to pinch-hit for Anderson with Uribe at the plate, the Dodger left-hander took the mound in the bottom of the seventh.

Casey McGehee pinch-hit for Lincecum and drew a leadoff walk. After moving to second base on a Pagan grounder, McGehee advanced another 90 feet on a wild pitch. Panik lined Anderson’s next pitch up the middle to extend the Giants’ lead to 2-0.

Yimi Garcia relieved Anderson and Justin Turner replaced Uribe at third base as part of a double switch for the Dodgers. Posey greeted the young right-hander with a two-run home run and the Giants’ lead grew to 4-0.

Jean Machi took over for Lincecum in the eighth and gave up a leadoff single to Turner. Pederson worked a full count only to foul out, though it required a snow-cone catch by Posey as he reached over the Dodgers dugout to make the play.

Kendrick doubled down the right field line with two outs to give the Dodgers their first threat in a handful of innings. Javier Lopez came on to face Gonzalez and won the matchup by getting the first baseman to ground out.

Scott Van Slyke reached on an infield single with two outs before Jeremy Affeldt got the final out to hand the Dodgers their second consecutive shutout. With the 4-0 loss the Dodgers lead over the Giants in the National League West standings was cut to 2.5 games.

Additionally, it marked the first time since 2003 the Dodgers have lost five consecutive games at AT&T Park, where they’ve scored just six runs in five games this season.
