Dodgers Remain World Series Favorites Even After Down Week

The Dodgers entered this past week fresh off of a four-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Any momentum from those four-straight wins was erased by the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates putting together a sweep of their own at Dodger Stadium.

LA did win their first two games against the Mets in the second series of the week, but a blow out loss on Saturday night, coupled with an extra-innings loss on Sunday, resulted in a disappointing 2-5 record on the week.

All that being said, as of Sunday night, the Dodgers are still the favorites to win it all according to FanDuel.

Odds to Win the World Series

  • Dodgers +420
  • Yankees +650
  • Mets +700
  • Houston +750
  • Blue Jays +950
  • Brewers +1200

One bad week doesn’t make or break a season, but those odds are still a bit of a surprise considering the fact that the Yankees are four ahead of the Dodgers in the win column after play on Sunday.

Other Dodgers News

A trio of Dodgers appeared in minor league rehab assignments over the weekend. Clayton Kershaw took the mound for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Single-A) and threw four innings (1 ER). Kershaw is expected to travel with the Dodgers to Chicago for their three-game series against the White Sox and throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. If all goes well, Clayton might get a start when the team visits San Francisco next weekend.

Max Muncy and Andrew Heaney both appeared for the OKC Dodgers (Triple-A). Muncy started on both Saturday and Sunday. Between the two games, the two-time All-Star went one-for-six with a pair of walks. Heaney pitched three innings, allowed one earned run, and logged five strikeouts.
