Dodgers Roster News: Darien Núñez Activated From the IL, Zach McKinstry Optioned

The Dodgers are making some moves ahead of their game with the Mets on Sunday evening. Looking to take the series sweep over New York, Los Angeles is adding another arm into their depleted and overworked bullpen.

They have officially activated left-handed pitcher Darien Núñez from the injured list. Núñez hit the injured list last week with an unspecified injury or ailment. The Dodgers did not disclose the reasoning when it was announced.

He will add to a bullpen that has been very overworked this week. The Dodgers went to extra innings over the last 2 games and have already thrown a bullpen game in the past week. Getting Núñez back into the mix will take some pressure off of some guys that have seen arguably too much work recently.

In order to make room on the active roster, the Dodgers optioned utilityman Zach McKinstry back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. McKinstry came in as a defensive replacement in last night’s name but did not get any playing time with his latest recall.

The Dodgers have Max Scherzer on the mound today looking to take the sweep. They expected him to go as deep as possible into the game to also help take pressure off of the bullpen.

  1. After his outing Sunday night, Nunez needs to go back to A-ball. He was horrible. McKInstry- re-pack your bags!

  2. Nunez looked a bit shaky and at this point of the season I’m not sure if the Dodgers will have the patience to see him improve. But I really liked the way Greene looked.Being a local kid, I was aware of him when he was at Santa Monica High.He also has a few YouTube videos that shows him pitching against hitters in an indoor baseball facility.I thought he looked good and was wondering what was going on with his career.I’m glad to see him with the Dodgers!
