Dodgers Roster News: Mitch White Recalled, Dennis Santana Optioned

The Dodgers are making some moves ahead of their series against the Giants. With a bullpen game scheduled for Thursday night, they’re going to need some arms up to get them through the next few games.

As a result, the Dodgers recalled Mitch White from Triple-A OKC. This will be White’s third time being brought up to the big league squad this year. He is currently 0-0 with a 1.17 ERA (1 ER/7.2 IP) and 4 strikeouts in six games for Los Angeles.

White is likely an arm that will come in after David Price in the game on Thursday night. Dave Roberts said that Price will get one chance through the order before going to another arm in the Dodgers bullpen.

Aside from White and Price, the Dodgers should also have Edwin Uceta as a guy that can eat multiple innings on Thursday. Joe Kelly and Blake Treinen can also take an inning of their own, but they will probably try to stay away from Kenley Jansen

Dennis Santana was optioned to make room for White on the Dodgers roster. Santana pitched in Wednesday night’s game against Houston, making him the most likely arm to be sent down in place of someone fresh.

The Dodgers play 4 games against the Giants this weekend in what is shaping up to be a very fun series. They’ll have their normal starters going on rest for the remainder of the games.

  1. I am not sure why Price is not a starter. I mean really the guy is a great pitcher and placing him as
a bullpen reliever is questionable to me. I really don’t like a bullpen game. With Prices salary its a little Pricey don’t you think

  2. Although they won tonight, but this is one bullpen game I could not understand the timing of the changes and the reasoning behind couple of them. Price doing terrific w/ only 35 or so pitches then bringing in Vesia, w/ 2 outs, walks Wood and another on 4 balls putting the game in jeopardy when the Dodgers had it under control w/ DP. Another is when Kelly after giving up the home run settled down and had the Giants guessing pitches, removed for Gonzalez who he couldn’t get the next batters out. Kelly didn’t even give the ball to Doc when removed. It can’ t be pitch count , or righty/lefty, or stressed out inning, or too much computer nerds making the calls. However, Treinen and Jansen, YOU WERE OUTSTANDING!!!!!
