Dodgers Roster: Trayce Thompson Activated, Walker Buehler to the 60-Day IL

The Dodgers and Reds are set to square off this afternoon in Cincinnati. Tony Gonsolin will take the mound in search of his 9th win of the season. To do that, he’s going to have to beat out Tyler Mahle, who just pitched 9 shutout innings in his last start.

But before the game, the Dodgers had to make a handful of moves. They added in Trayce Thompson just one day after making a trade with the Tigers for him. But Thompson will not get the start against the righty as Dave Roberts opted for Eddy Alvarez in rightfield again this afternoon.

In order to make room on the roster for Thompson, the Dodgers had to move Walker Buehler to the 60-day IL. That was a move in the making with Buehler expected to be out until September, depending on the healing process for him.

To make room on the active roster, the Dodgers moved Caleb Ferguson to the 15-day IL. That move was backdated to June 17th and they are citing left forearm tendinitis as the cause. In all likelihood, it stems from the need to cut back to 13 pitchers as of Monday.
