Dodgers Rumors: Dodgers and Cubs Discuss Matt Garza for Zach Lee Deal

The Dodgers and Cubs were working on a Ryan Dempster deal last week that fell apart due to the Cubs wanting Zach Lee.

This morning we hear that the Braves have a deal in place for Dempster.

We also hear that the Dodgers and Cubs have discussed sending Matt Garza to the Dodgers for Zach Lee + prospect(s).

A concern is that Garza left Saturday’s game after three innings with cramping in his lower triceps.

X-rays came back negative, but hardly the news you want to hear before sending your best prospect(s) packing in a trade for this player.

Garza is 28 years old and under control through the 2013 season. He makes $9.5M this season and is set to make in the $12m+ range next season.

Garza would be a great addition to the Dodgers. The cost is high, but he is under control for one more season. Acquiring Garza would all but certainly take the Dodgers out of the Chase Headley sweepstakes.
