Dodgers Rumors: Kiké Hernandez Could Be Headed to Red Sox, LA Signing Both Turner and Semien?

It appears that Kiké Hernandez could be getting closer to signing with the Boston Red Sox. The Sox “have strong interest” in the 29-year-old, super-utility man according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive and with DJ LeMahieu off the board, Boston could be zeroing in on Hernandez on a possible 1-year deal. We assess Hernandez’s value and whether or not he would be a good fit in Beantown. Plus, Kiké Hernandez and wife Mariana announced the birth of their daughter.

Next, longtime MLB insider Peter Gammons tweeted that someone within the baseball world told him that, ” the Dodgers are going to sign both Semien and Justin Turner.” We assess the prospect of the Dodgers signing both Justin Turner and Marcus Semien and if Semien can be the solid righty bat the Dodgers need in their lineup. Plus, will this be the week the Dodgers re-sign Justin Turner?

  1. Can we bring back Kike as our everyday 3rd baseman on a one year deal, then see what Kody Hoese has to offer come September. If he’s the legitimate power threat some think he will be, then we’ve got our guy for the next 6 years. If not, we can search the market again next off-season. I know Kike didn’t play 3rd last year, but that doesn’t mean he CAN’T play 3rd. He’s been a baller on the defensive side of the ball no matter where he’s played. To me, the ideal situation is Kike in 2021 and Hoese 2022-2027.

    1. Not a bad idea. Not sure Kike will sign a limited length deal. I want Rios to get more at bats. He has demonstrated impressive power numbers. Hoese and Busch are a year or two out as are Mann and Vargas.
Semien could be Seager insurance. We do not know what the Dodgers think of the chance of re-signing Seager next year. Rumor has it that Seager and his new wife want to live on a farm in North Carolina. Seager is still complaining about the team looking into a Lindor deal while he was rehabbing from 2 surgeries which shows just how immature he is. I think the Dodgers lose Seager next year.

      1. Tmax, hopefully Seager doesn’t hold that grudge because during that time there were certainly no guarantees Seager would fully recover from both major surgeries anytime soon thereafter. And not only might Seager be lost if he has a wish to play closer to home but IMHO Boras would be as big a reason for Seager departing as well. So in that case Dodgers should keep the future at SS in mind now.

  2. LOL, I’m sure Semien is looking to become the next Kiki Hernandez. Not. I’d be surprised if Seager is not motivated to sign an extension at big bucks. One more injury that requires surgery, and his value would plummet, with insane money on the line. Taking that kind of risk when the best organization in baseball wants to pay you is kind of crazy. He can’t live on a farm in North Carolina during the baseball season, off-season, he can do whatever he likes with north of 200M guaranteed.

  3. Dodgers can’t afford to loose Seager cause he’s the best shortstop out there period Lindor no f n way he needs to load up again with steroids after last season.Sign both Seager and Bellinger long term with Mookie type of dollar numbers.
