Dodgers Rumors: LA Showing Interest in Trading For Brandon Drury

The Dodgers should be very active at the trade deadline this year. And while fans in Los Angeles are always hoping for a big splash, they’re in a unique position this year. They have talent coming back from the injured list and they don’t necessarily need anything aside from relief help. That might even end up being a lower-level type of arm that flies under the radar.

But the Dodgers could also end up getting a bench bat. They’re looking for some help there and there are a few options available. One of them could end up being Reds’ infielder/outfielder Brandon Drury.

Drury is set to hit free agency after this season. And according to SNY’s Andy Martino, the Dodgers and Giants are 2 teams showing serious interest in obtaining his services. And he could end up being the perfect fit in Los Angeles.

“Now Drury has come into his own with the Cincinnati Reds, hitting 18 home runs and posting an .873 OPS. A righthanded hitter who is more productive and more versatile than J.D. Davis, Drury would represent an upgrade there. But league sources say the Dodgers and Giants are showing more interest in Drury at present.”

Drury is currently in the midst of a career year. He’s hitting .280 overall but also crushing left-handed pitching. He currently owns a 1.061 OPS against southpaws and can play all over the field. That would be a perfect addition to the Dodgers roster.

He’s posting a 137 wRC+ as we head towards the All-Star break. That is by FAR the best number of his 8-year career. Hitting 18 homeruns and getting on base at a decent rate has helped that cause. If the Dodgers want a right-handed bat, he has to be the guy for them.
