Dodgers Sign LHP Enny Romero to Minor League Deal

The Dodgers may not be looking to add another big name into their bullpen mix, but that also doesn’t mean they’re done making moves. Los Angeles will continue to look at depth to add at the minor league level for the 2021 season.

The Dodgers added a left-handed pitcher into the mix today by signing Enny Romero. Los Angels inked the southpaw to a minor league deal, though the team has yet to make an official announcement on the signing. Romero was posted on social media wearing a Dodgers hat and shirt, and will reportedly receive an invitation to Spring Training.

Romero last appeared in the big leagues with the Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Washington Nationals in 2018. He posted a combined 12.60 ERA in 8 appearances between the 3 teams. Since then, Romero has spent the last couple of years with the  Chunichi Dragons in the NPB’s Central League. The Dodgers will give him the chance to compete for a spot on the roster with the invitation to spring camp.

At his best, Romero features a fastball that sits in the high 90’s that can often touch triple-digits. Romero also hit 102 mph on the radar gun in a game back in 2017. He mixes in an occasional offspeed pitch but generally relies on the heater to get batters out.

  1. Always nice to have flame throwers, 100+. Maybe pitching coach Pryor, with Hunnicut’s help, can make a viable major leaguer.

    1. You can’t teach or develop 102 mph heat. But you can teach and develop everything else. Give this guy a hard look and a real chance to develop.
