Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly announced Saturday Erik Bedard will start the club’s Cactus League opener on March 4, not Clayton Kershaw, who’s done so the last two years. Instead, Kershaw is scheduled to take the mound Thursday when the Dodgers again face the Chicago White Sox.
While the Dodger ace will need to wait five more days until he can face opposing batters, Kershaw threw live batting practice to some of his teammates Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch; as an aside, Yasmani Grandal caught Kershaw during the session.
