Dodgers Starting Pitching Looking Scary Good As Playoffs Draw Closer

Let’s take a look at Ricky Nolasco — the mid-season acquisition from Miami.

In 11 starts, Nolasco has yet to allow more than three earned runs in any start, making it easy to understand why the Dodgers are 9-2 in those games (Nolasco is 7-1).

Statistically, Nolasco has a 2.21 ERA as a Dodger and a WHIP of 1.02 in 69.1 innings pitched.

Next in line is Hyun-Jin Ryu, the rookie that nobody in the league seems to be talking about.

The South Korean lefty has been excellent for the Dodgers all season, posting a 3.02 ERA and notching 13 wins.

The fifth man in the rotation, Chris Capuano, has been serviceable for the Dodgers this season — but the good news is Capuano is expected to be the odd man out of the playoff rotation.

The thought of facing Kershaw, Greinke, Nolasco and Ryu in a playoff series — not to mention the ridiculous lineup behind them — is more than enough to get fans excited for playoff baseball.

At the moment, the Dodgers have the two best ERAs among pitchers on playoff teams — Kershaw and Greinke. Ryu is fifth on that list, while Nolasco is ninth when factoring in his performance with Miami this season as well.

Like I said: scary good.
