Dodgers: Steve Garvey Set to Be Grand Marshall for President’s Day Parade

Dodgers legend and National League iron man, Steve Garvey, will be out and about this long holiday weekend. The Garv is set to be the grand marshall at Monday’s Riverside County Presidents Day Grand Parade in Indio.

The event starts at 9 am on Monday and spans about four blocks near the Riverside County Fairgrounds. Riverside County supervisor Victor Manuel Perez shared his excitement over the 1974 NL MVP’s appearance.

“On a week where we just crowned the newest sports champions of California, we are tremendously excited that Steve Garvey, another California champion and living legend in Dodgers history, has graciously agreed to be Grand Marshal for our community parade,” Perez said via KESQ news. “There is a lot of love for our Dodgers and for this resident of our community who, in my opinion, should be in the Hall of Fame. I thank Mr. Garvey for his dedication to our communities and look forward to a lot of people being there to celebrate him and cheer on local students who this parade is all about.”

If you’re in the area for President’s Day, get on out and support the parade while seeing a true Dodgers legend!

  1. Steve Garvey deserves to be in the hall of fame for this, if no other reason…. During the 1984 season, Garvey set the record as the only first baseman in baseball history to commit no errors while playing 150 or more games. He handled 1,319 total chances (1,232 putouts and 87 assists) flawlessly in 159 games for the Padres.
