Dodgers Take Over Top Spot in the MLB Power Rankings

It seems like all season long the Dodgers and Giants have been fighting for the top spot in baseball. While many believed that the Padres would be in the mix, it’s been the other 2 NL West teams to dominate for most of the year.

This week, the Dodgers managed to once again take the top spot away from San Francisco. Los Angeles swept through the Pirates in dominant fashion right after taking a weekend series from the Mets. They played New York again over this weekend and managed to take 2 of 3 from them.

The Dodgers are still chasing the Giants by 2.5 games in the west, but the gap is quickly closing. Los Angeles is also getting back to their normal healthy selves, and that could be very bad news for the Giants. San Francisco has had a recent issue keeping guys healthy, most notably in their rotation.

The additions of Trea Turner and Max Scherzer at the deadline have proven to be huge for the Dodgers. Turner has been a force at the top of the order and Scherzer continues to pitch like his dominant self.

The Dodgers are also on the verge of getting some big names back. Mookie Betts should return to the lineup this week and Clayton Kershaw is on the mend along with Tony Gonsolin. They will also be getting Danny Duffy back at some point in September.

Buckle up fans, it’s going to be fun.

  1. I hope nobody on this Dodger team looks at these power rankings. They mean nothing. Play ball.

  2. Hmmm. as others have noted power rankings are meaningless. Also the Dodgers took 3 out of 4 this weekend and swept the Mets the weekend before……
