Dodgers: There is a Good Chance Brusdar Graterol is Activated Today

The Dodgers have help on the way…probably. After a very long game 1 on Friday night, Los Angeles is expected to add at least one arm from the taxi squad. How could they not after throwing 6 guys in relief?

Brusdar Graterol is the obvious choice for the Dodgers to select this weekend. He’s healthy, he’s supposedly up to speed, and he made the trip with the team down to San Diego. Doc had previously mentioned the possibility of activating him by Sunday. Friday’s game might have sped up that timeline.

After the extra-innings win, Roberts said that the team was going to talk about adding Brusdar immediately. As of very very early Saturday morning, no official decision had been made or announced by the team.

The important note here is that the Dodgers would need to option someone to make room for Brusdar. The obvious candidate would be Dennis Santana, who the team used in relief on Friday night. Santana was brought up when Tony Gonsolin hit the injured list.

The Dodgers could also choose to go with a shorter bench and opt to add in another arm. With the series ahead of them as well as one in Seattle, optioning a bench bat for the week might not be a terrible idea. If they go that route, look for Matt Beaty or Luke Raley to go back down, if only temporarily.

  1. The Dodgers are already short onthe roster with Lux and Pollock unavailable and the bench is suspect at best so it would be a DUMB and WRONG idea to play with a shorter bench even for temporary. What if Dodgers have more extra inning games this week?
