Dodgers to Honor Kobe and Gianna Bryant This Sunday

On what would have been Kobe’s 42nd birthday, the icon will be honored.

Kobe Bryant will always be remembered in Los Angeles as an icon. He was so much more than just a basketball player, he meant everything to this city. Not only did he bring five NBA Championships to LA, but he taught us a lot in the process. The Dodgers have always had a special connection with the Bryant family.

Kobe’s 42nd birthday would have been this coming Sunday. He and his daughter Gianna tragically perished in a helicopter crash in January that rocked the entire city. In honor of Kobe and Giann, the Dodgers will honor them prior to the game on Sunday against the Rockies.

It’s not clear how the team plans to honor the two, but it will be in a pregame ceremony. Fans are encouraged to tune in to SportsNet LA for live coverage of the ceremony beginning at 12:40 prior to the Dodgers’ 1:10 pm game versus the Rockies.

Up Next for the Dodgers

Los Angeles starts a three-game series against the Rockies tonight at home. The Rockies’ offense comes in ranked number three in offensive production in the National League, but their pitching still has a ways to go.
