Dodgers To Host Annual Hollywood Stars Night June 6 At Dodger Stadium

Although often times baseball teams “borrow” promotions and gimmicks from other teams, there are a few traditions each season which, for various reasons, are original and irreplicable (i.e. the Colorado Rockies’ spectacular mullet hat).

Of all the Dodgers promotions, the one most unique to the team is undoubtedly Hollywood Stars Night, which pits two teams of celebrities against each other in a softball game prior to a Dodgers home game.

This year’s event will take place June 6 at 5:00 p.m., two hours before the Dodgers host the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10. In the past, this unique game has featured the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Walter Matthau, Cary Grant, Jack Lemmon, Jackie Gleason, Bob Newhart and Billy Crystal.

Among the celebrities who will participate this year are Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), Kevin McHale (Glee), Frank Grillo (Captain America), Jaleel White (Family Matters & Dancing With the Stars), model Charlotte McKinney (Dancing With the Stars), Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf & Road to Perdition), Austin Stowell (Love and Honor), Clark Gregg (Iron Man), Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day) and Brian Dietzen (NCIS).

Additionally, athletes such as WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, American soccer star Landon Donovan and others will also suit up. The teams will be managed by longtime Dodgers fan Larry King and Garry Marshall.

No word yet on whether Andrew Friedman will promote a starter from Triple-A Oklahoma City for a spot start. Fans who purchase a ticket to the Dodgers’ 7:10 game can attend the Hollywood Stars primer at no additional cost.
