Dodgers: Tony Gonsolin Changes His Jersey Number for 2021

A new season is an opportunity for teams and players to start over. The 2021 season will be a great way for MLB teams to forget about the weirdness that was the 2020 season and get going towards the goal of a World Series. For the Dodgers, their goal is to go back-to-back.

One change that appears to be happening with the new year is with uniform numbers. The Dodgers signed Trevor Bauer to a free-agent deal, and he went back to wearing number 27 rather than the 47 he wore in Cleveland. Tony Gonsolin is the one noteworthy jersey number change heading into 2021.

In a clip posted by the Dodgers on their social media accounts today, Gonsolin is seen throwing for just a second. But in that short clip, he can be seen debuting his new number. It appears that Gonsolin will be donning the number 26 jersey moving forward in Los Angeles.

Pitchers and catchers had their first workouts of Spring Training for the Dodgers today in Glendale. The rest of the team is set to report in the coming days, with the first full-squad workout taking place on February 23rd.

Former Dodgers infielder Brian Dozier is calling it a career. The announcement made today ends the playing career of a power-hitting second baseman that never could catch a break with injuries. Dozier leaves the game at the ripe age of 33.

Dodgers analyst took a little jab at the Padres this week and called them the third-best team in Major League Baseball. While he probably didn’t mean for it to be an insult, Padres fans did not react well.
