Dodgers: Victor Gonzalez a Lock to Be the Main Southpaw in the Bullpen

The Dodgers come into the 2021 season with plenty of guys fighting for spots in their bullpen. Andrew Friedman made sure this offseason that there would be enough talent to provide depth throughout the year.

But one thing that seems to be missing is a clear left-handed option. The Dodgers will have Victor Gonzalez out there, but beyond him, not much. Dave Roberts confirmed what we all know on Monday when he said that Victor was going to be the go-to southpaw.

Roberts also noted that he would ideally like to have another left-handed option.

I do [see having more than 1 lefty]. You always want to go with the best options regardless of handedness. But I do think that having another lefty alongside Victor is very likely for us.

The Dodgers have Scott Alexander, Garrett Cleavinger, and Alex Vesia as the remaining left-handed options on the 40-man roster. Of those guys, Alexander comes with the most big-league experience. But Cleavinger also has looked the sharpest in Spring with Alexander getting hit hard in his last outing.

Regardless of which option they go with, Victor will be the guy the Dodgers lean on. As sharp as he looked in 2020, Victor looks even better this Spring. He has tossed 3 perfect innings and tallied 3 strikeouts.

Expect BIG things from Gonzalez in 2021.
