Dodgers Video: Kendrick Lamar Throws Out Ceremonial First Pitch

The ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium has seen numerous celebrities, artists, athletes and others attempt to reach home plate from on or around the mound before a Los Angeles Dodgers home game.

On Monday, Compton-born rapper Kendrick Lamar was on-hand to throw out the first pitch. Lamar recently released a new album, “To Pimp A Butterfly”, that reached Gold status recently. In his music video for the song, “King Kunta”, Lamar is seen wearing a blue Dodgers cap throughout the video.

Lamar visited Dodger Stadium earlier in the month for promotional photos and footage, as well as to practice for his throw. Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick was brought out to work with Lamar and they took a picture next to each other, seeing that Howie’s last name is Lamar’s first name. While Kendrick was used in the promo work, Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford was out to catch the rapper’s first pitch.
