The Los Angeles Dodgers returned to Dodger Stadium Tuesday night for their first home game since the All-Star break. They finished 5-5 on their 10-game road trip and began a two-game set with the Oakland Athletics on what was also Los Angeles Clippers night.

The night included the Dodgers selling a special ticket package that came with a co-branded t-shirt. Additionally, Clippers forward and Los Angeles native Paul Pierce was on hand to throw out the first pitch.

As has been the case in days past, the Dodger Stadium crowd didn’t take too kindly to Pierce’s presence. Just as Clippers point guard Chris Paul has been, Pierce was booed upon being announced to the crowd.

Mimicking a pitcher looking in to get his sign from the catcher, in this case Kenley Jansen, Pierce’s pitch was a bit short:

The boos Pierce received led to a mocking round of applause and a smattering of “air ball” chants. To date, the Los Angeles Lakers and players associated with the storied NBA franchise haven’t received the same treatment as Clippers.

Lakers and Los Angeles Kings nights are scheduled for Aug. 11 and Aug. 12, respectively.

  1. Send the Clippers back to San Diego, where they can join another franchise that seethes in perpetual L.A. envy, the Padres.
