The Los Angeles Dodgers took on Team Australia in an exhibition game at Sydney Cricket Ground in preparation for their two-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Not much offense was provided by the Dodgers in the first seven innings, managing to have just one hit and being down 2-0. In the top of the eighth, right fielder Yasiel Puig stepped to the plate with two outs and drove the 1-0 pitch deep over the left field wall for a two-run game-tying home run and the team’s second hit of the game. Puig’s blast culminated a game of highlights for the 23-year-old right fielder, as he also threw out a runner at the plate earlier in the game.
Later in the inning, the Dodgers would take the lead and eventually won the game by a score of 4-2. Puig’s throw and home run without a doubt introduced him to the fans of Australia and he hopes he can continue that during the series.
