Dodgers: Vin Scully Wishes Tommy Lasorda a Happy Birthday Recalling a Great Story

Today, Dodgers fans around Los Angeles are celebrating the 93rd birthday of legendary manager Tommy Lasorda. Vin Scully took to his social media accounts to wish Tommy a happy birthday, and to tell fans a really great Tommy story.

Vin talks about the first time that he ever heard of Tommy Lasorda and the tenacious spirit that has made him so famous. Apparently, Tommy had said that he planned on throwing to well over 600 Dodgers hitters in Dodgertown for a $50 bet when Vin first heard his name.

The Dodgers’ manager has always had a reputation among fans in Los Angeles for being…well, for being Tommy. There truly is no one in baseball history quite like Tommy Lasorda. He won two World Series titles, four National League pennants, and eight division titles in his 20-years as the manager.

Vin recently got into social media after being away from the Dodgers for four years. His appearance all across social channels has brought plenty of stories and smiles along the way. Vin retired from the broadcast booth following the 2016 season after spending 67 seasons there between Brooklyn and Los Angeles. He can now be found on Twitter, Facebook, and even Instagram.
